Hi, I’m Sarah McGlynn.

I set up ‘dot the i Atelier’ in 2018, a calligraphy and stationery design studio
based in the beautiful city of Bath.

The journey here was unconventional. I grew up in the Somerset countryside drawing wildflowers throughout the seasons. I have no formal art or graphic design training as I pursued a career as a solicitor. I continued to work in corporate environments until a career break to raise my children when I had the opportunity to nurture my creative side. I returned to work within the management team of a less corporate and design led company. Here I was introduced to graphic design tools as part of my role & something was ignighted.

In 2016, I discovered calligraphy and its artisan charm after ordering a traditional nib and ink kit online and teaching myself. After a lot of practice, frustration and perseverance, calligraphy became a source of contentment for me with the slow & intentional dance of the nib across the paper;
creating something delicate and timeless.

I decided to offer calligraphy commissions and it wasn’t long before I was creating handwritten items for weddings and events. Soon I was designing printed stationery and I haven’t looked back. My style is influenced by nature and wildflowers, my French ancestry and my love of old ephemera. Quality is of paramount importance from the materials I use & the printers I partner with. As is trust from my clients and working in collaboration with them.
